Nearly 11 months ago I had upper and lower eyelid surgery, lower facelift, neck lift and chemical peel by Dr. Stallman. He is professional, honest, and thorough. In the week after surgery I never had any pain, had very little bruising, and no complications. Since then my recovery has gone smoothly. I still look my age. I look like myself. I just look better and feel better. I always hated my baggy eyelids, but the rest of what I had done was really out of character for me. Nevertheless, I’m glad I had the surgery. When I got tired of looking tired, I spent months consulting with cosmetic surgeons on the Central Coast. All seemed knowledgeable and willing to help me in their own way but Dr. Stallman’s approach is what convinced me to become his patient and every time I look in the mirror, I know that I made the right choice. I chose Dr. Paul Stallman to perform an Upper Blepharoplasty and Brow Lift for me in July of 2013. I am extremely picky and simply would not go to a regular plastic surgeon for work on my face. I visited his office 3 times before scheduling the procedure. Each visit, I had a million questions, all of which were answered to my satisfaction by either Dr. Stallman, himself, or his very knowledgeable and capable assistant, Allison. I was invariably treated with patience, respect, dignity, and a value of my privacy. The procedure was performed at the Coastal Surgical Institutes, right down the street from Dr. Stallman’s Pismo Beach office. Dr. Stallman and approximately 20 other MDs are the physician owners of this Ambulatory Surgery Center. My experience there could not have been better. I was treated with professionalism, respect, kindness, and competence from the time I walked in the door, until the time I left (and even before and after with any telephone conversations, etc.). This facility was state of the art, very peaceful and calm, clean, and staffed and run very well. I believe it represented a very cost effective way to have these procedures done. My total cost was $7500, which in addition to the procedures and all the before/after visits to Dr. Stallman included the Surgery Center and an MD/Anesthesiologist. Another thing I really like about seeing an Oculoplastic Surgeon is that he knows the eye, itself, and has all the equipment to look into the eyes and perform all the tests before and after the procedure to be sure no aspect of the eye or my vision is being compromised. Dr. Stallman is exceedingly competent, caring, and compassionate, while at the same time not being in the least bit full of himself as can be the tendency in his profession. The results of my procedures far exceeded my expectations. Immediately following, and to this day 6 weeks post op- I am simply thrilled with the results, which easily took 12 years off of the appearance of my face. Dr. Stallman has dual training. He is a board certified ophthalmologist who then completed a fellowship in oculofacial plastic surgery. As an oculofacial plastic surgeon, he is keenly aware of the impact that our eyes and face have on our outward appearance and is particularly sensitive to the delicateness of this area. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and is one of only a few hundred doctors in the United States who has qualified as fellow of the prestigious American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS). It takes years of specialized training to safely perform procedures on the delicate tissues around the eyes and face. To master the specialty, Dr. Stallman began with an internal medicine internship followed by three years of eye surgery training after completing medical school. He then became board certified and completed extensive advanced OculoFacial Plastic Surgery training, qualifying oral and written examinations and a scientific thesis. All this was required before being considered by his peers for fellowship in ASOPRS. I visited Dr. Stallman to discuss options for removing advanced sun damage on my face. After listening to my wishes and concerns, he determined that I would be a good candidate for (and be happiest with) the type of results achieved from the full, not fractional, CO2 laser skin resurfacing procedure. I’m 56 and had never had any prior laser treatments. Dr. Stallman thoroughly explained the procedure and the pre and post care. He also made sure I understood what to expect, realistically, from a cosmetic standpoint. This is a serious procedure that requires serious thought and I felt confident that Dr. Stallman had the experience and skill to give me the best outcome. After researching an oculoplastic surgeon (specializing in the eyes/face) to perform upper and lower blephoraplasty surgery I was very happy to find Dr. Stallman right in my own backyard. I literally live about a minute away, which wasn’t why I chose him, but it definitely was a plus. Dr. Stallman has all the qualifications with 20 years of experience. The doctor and his staff were very nice and accommodating answering my questions and helped me to feel confident (as confident as one can feel about facial cosmetic surgery). My surgery was May 9, 2013, and I am very pleased at 2 months post op. There are many concerns about blephoraplasty surgeons taking too much fat/skin away from the eye area, leaving a hollowed appearance, or scar tissue pulling that too little skin left away from the eye, but Dr. Stallman was very conservative (he took just the right amount and I did not need any skin removed – transconjuctival procedure).
In my opinion, Dr. Stallman is an expert in judgement as well as in performance. I followed all post op recovery practices and I had no problems. If you are considering blephoraplasty I can attest to Dr. Stallman being a great doctor who will give your eyes a very natural looking makeover without leaving you looking as though you had cosmetic work done. Thank you Dr. Stallman, and staff! You are all awesome, and I’ll be back if I need any further facial work. Oh, and last but not least, Dr. Stallman’s office accepts major credit cards (just not Discover Card – hint hint, I would have liked to use my Discover card doc!), and they offer another form of financing/credit too.
